Air Mobility Control Center at Andersen wins AMCC of the Year
Technical Sergeant Brian Vicars, 734th Air Mobility Squadron, participates in the Prime Knight program here at Andersen, which briefs an incoming aircrew on its amenities while on Guam. The controller along with the Aircraft Commander sets up times for the dining facility and crew bus times. The PK program essentially expedites mission movement by enabling the aircrew to enter crew rest upon arrival. Sgt. Andersen Airfield Ops Capture 5 PACAF Awards
Staff Sgt. Sandra Achivida, 36th Operations Support Squadron, has been named the Pacific Air Forces' 2007 Air Traffic Control Watch Supervisor of the Year. Staff Sgt. Achivida played a key role in Valiant Shield by sequencing 17 in-flight emergencies and aided in guaranteeing Navy's Strike Fighter Readiness Program Exercise by mixing 40 fighter and heavy aircraft with two Air Expeditionary Force rotations. She also ensured Cope North success by managing language barriers for the 1st Japanese Air Self-Defense Force and de-conflicted ground support for the Japanese F-2/FSX deployment composed of more than 730 operations in two weeks. Andersen Airfield Ops Capture 5 PACAF Awards
Pacific Air Force officials awarded Master Sgt. James Colson, 36th Operations Support Squadron, with the 2007 Air Traffic Control Training Achievement Award. Sergeant Colson's achievements include preparing the air traffic control tower staff for four joint exercises, developing 20 air craft specific simulations and managing a training program that prepared controllers for 21 joint and bilateral exercises. Additionally, he revived a tower simulation system that prepared data and ground positions and created 10 scenarios in only a week to enhance air traffic control proficiency. Andersen Airfield Ops Capture 5 PACAF Awards
Capt. Billy Wilson, 36th Airfield Operations Flight commander, was recently awarded the 2007 Colonel Derrel L. Dempsey Officer of the Year award. Some of Captain Wilson's accomplishments include managing airfield improvements valued at more than $45 million and leading the Navy Strike Fighter Readiness Program Exercise that included 32 Navy F/A-18 Hornets and 400 sailors. Andersen Airfield Ops Capture 5 PACAF Awards
Staff Sgt. Dominique Bonapart, 36th Operations Support Squadron, has been named the Pacific Air Force's Airfield Management Airman of the Year for 2007. Some of Sergeant Bonapart's accomplishments include deploying to Kirkuk Air Base, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While deployed, he rewrote a pilot liaison program that enhanced fight safety, and on Andersen, he supported 21 exercises composed of more than 230 aircraft while ensuring flight plan accuracy and ground support. Andersen Airfield Ops captures five PACAF awards
Senior Master Sgt. Darron Williams, 36th Operations Support Squadron Airfield manager, overlooks Andersen's flightline March 25. Sergeant Williams was recently named the Pacific Air Force's Airfield Management Senior NCO of the Year. A few of Sergeant Williams' accomplishments are guiding an airfield overhaul plan that minimized the impact to Andersen's airfield, completed eight airfield improvement projects valued at more than $38 million managed a new runway opening ceremony.
