Cope North 2017 SERE Training

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Lawrence, a survival, evasion, resistance, and escape instructor, assigned to the 353rd Combat Training Squadron, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, prepare a chicken to be cooked in a field environment during Cope North 17 survival training at Andersen AFB, Guam, Feb. 17, 2017. Beginning in 1978 as a quarterly bilateral exercise held at Misawa AB, Japan, Cope North was moved to Andersen AFB in 1999. Today, the annual exercise serves as a keystone event to promote stability and security throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific by enabling forces to hone vital readiness skills critical to maintainning regional stability.
