Lt. Col. John Vitacca, 393rd Expedtionary Bomber Squadron commander, takes off from first base after a teammate rifles a shot toward left-center field. The rules were modified to ensure every competing team had a chance to play. Players were allowed to pitch to their own team, but the challenge lay in the fact every pitch had to be swung at. If the batter failed to connect, he was retired. Each team was allowed fifteen pitches total for one inning each. (Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Steven Wilson)
