36th CRG aids in Typhoon Soudelor relief effort
The USS Ashland sails along the coast of Saipan Aug. 9, 2015. The 48 square mile island was battered by Typhoon Soudelor Aug. 2, as the powerful storm made its way across the Pacific. The USS Ashland arrived to the island Aug. 7 to assist in storm recovery efforts. Numerous agencies are contributing to the relief effort including service members from the 36th Contingency Response Group, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Two Five and Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.
