Derrick Spencer, 36th Wing Public Affairs NCO-in-charge of broadcasting, fires a replica M4 Carbine automatic rifle at a simulated target at the Warrior Skills Trainer Nov. 19. The $4 million simulator supports several weapon platforms compatible with the simulator, including the M4 Carbine automatic rifle, the MK19 grenade launcher, the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon and the M2 Browning heavy machine gun. Airmen from the 36th Contingency Response Group landed on the island of Saipan Aug. 9, 2015. The 48 square mile island was battered by Typhoon Soudelor Aug. 2, as the powerful storm made its way across the Pacific. The 36th CRG Airmen deployed from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, to assist in storm recovery efforts. Numerous agencies are contributing to the relief effort including service members from the USS Ashland, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Two Five and Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.
