Ian Hunt, 36th Airlift Squadron loadmaster, waits for the right moment Dec. 14 to push the first of more than 180 packages to be dropped during the 2008 Operation Christmas Drop. Operation Christmas Drop is the Air Force’s longest-running humanitarian which began in 1952. Operation Christmas Drop 2008
ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam – Charles Ecret, Pacific Daily News videographer, films the holiday packages inside Santa 01, a C-130, Dec. 14 while flying on the first Operation Christmas Drop mission of 2008. The aircraft was packed with boxes filled with supplies bound for Pacific islanders living on the remote islands surrounding Chuuk. Team Andersen kicked off the humanitarian airlift mission Dec. 12 with a Push ceremony. Marlon Pugh, 36th Medical Group non-commissioned officer in charge of laboratory, conducts training with members of the medical group during the Emergency Management Exercise here Dec. 3.
