U.S. Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets from John F. Kennedy High School, Guam, carry a stretcher with a dummy in it during the 3rd annual JROTC Fitness Challenge hosted at JFKHS, Feb. 24, 2023. Most of the fitness challenge were actual tests that are conducted during DoD physical fitness assessments, i.e. push-ups and sit-ups. The addition of the equipment trail run challenge was to educate the cadets on what working in/carrying military equipment would feel like in the field. This event is also the only pure team event in which the team's fitness score is based on the whole team crossing the finish line. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Pedro Tenorio)

Cadets from various Guam High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps participate in a mile run during the 3rd annual Guam JROTC Fitness Challenge hosted at John F. Kennedy High School, Guam, Feb. 24, 2024. The Guam JROTC Fitness Challenge was created by Senior Enlisted Airmen from Andersen AFB after they saw the national rise of cadets losing full ROTC scholarships due to failure of fitness standards. This challenge was made to combine both friendly competition and mentorship for these cadets. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Pedro Tenorio)

These 49 volunteers made sure more than 100 cadets were able to complete all six challenges smoothly and scored fairly within DoD physical fitness assessment standards.
