Maintenance Airmen vital part of Valiant Shield 2010
ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam - Staff Sgt. Jesse Buettner, 36th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, crew chief conducts a thorough flight inspection after arrival here Sept. 13. The maintenance Airmen are vital part of the exercise, Valiant Shield 2010, keeping the aircraft in flight. More than 150 aircraft will participate in Valiant Shield, including, B-52 Stratofortresses, F-15 Eagles, F-15E Strike Eagles, E-3 Sentry airborne warning and control aircraft, KC-10 Extenders, KC-135 Stratotankers, P-3 Orions and F/A-18 Delta Hornets. More than 100 of the aircraft will fly from Andersen to conduct sorties in various exercise scenarios. Giving Mother Nature a helping hand
ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- A young volunteer lends a helping hand to Mother Nature and plants an acacia tree in the soil along Cetti Bay, June 20. Members of the 644th Combat Communications Squadron and their families teamed up with the Department of Agriculture to plant more than 1,000 acacia trees in an effort to stave off erosion of soil which has been causing damage to the coral and marine life of the bay. Exercise Humanitarian Assistance Rapid Response Team
ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam - The 36th Medical Group and the 36th Contingency Response Group work together to construct operational tents during a simulated exercise for the Humanitarian Assistance Rapid Response Team here July 15. The HARRT is equipped to operate in an austere permissive environment during Phase III of disaster relief operations, supporting 350 to 500 patients per day and can be fully operational within six hours of arrival at the disaster site.
