Andersen recognizes BSC week
As part of the Air Force Biomedical Science Corps, physical therapists are health care professionals who perform evaluations and design rehabilitation programs to help restore function, improve mobility and relieve pain. They focus on injury prevention and patient education to help reduce the likelihood of further injury and improved function. A physical therapy rehabilitation program can include a variety of interventions such as: strength and conditioning training, manual therapy techniques, electrical stimulation, and trigger point dry needling. To keep service members fit to fight, Maj. Elizabeth Liebner, 36th Medical Operations Squadron physical therapist, uses her musculoskeletal expertise to collaborate with other clinics in the medical group in order to ensure the best care for that individual. "The best part of my job is getting our service members back to the activities they love to do or need to accomplish in order to get them back to the mission," Liebner said. "Whether it is playing catch with their kid or passing their PT test, it is very rewarding when the patient meets their goals and improves their overall function.
