Members of the 90th Fighter Squadron, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska prepare for post flight maintenance Jan. 18 at Andersen Air Force, Guam. Andersen received 12 of the $140 million dollar aircraft, and more than 250 Airmen have already arrived at the base to begin a three month deployment as the Pacific's Theater Security Package. The stealth-fighters, along with associated maintenance and support personnel, are deployed as the 90th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron and will participate in various exercises that provide routine training in an environment different from their home station. An F-22 Raptor pilot from Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska climbs out of the jet at Andersen Air Force Base Guam on Jan. 18. Andersen received 12 of the $140 million dollar aircraft, and more than 250 Airmen have already arrived at the base to begin a three month deployment as the Pacific's Theater Security Package. As part of the continuing force posture adjustments to address worldwide requirements, the United States continues to deploy additional forces like the F-22 throughout the Western Pacific. Reserve refuelers participate in first exercise
A B-52 Stratofortress from Minot Air Force Base, N.D. moves into a pre-contact position to receive fuel Jan. 9 from a KC-135 Stratotanker over the Pacific Ocean during an exercise. The B-52 is deployed to Andersen Air Force Base Guam, 23rd Expeditionary Bomb Squadron. The bomber rotation to Andersen provides the U.S. Pacific commander a continuous presence to deter and dissuade any potential aggressor in the region. The rotation to Andersen is aimed at enhancing regional security and demonstrating U.S. commitment to the Pacific region. The KC-135 is assigned to the 434th ARW from Grissom Air Reserve Base, Ind. Reserve refuelers participate in first exercise
Tech. Sgt. Larry Flook marshals in a KC-135 Stratotanker at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam after completing a sortie in support of an Exercise Jan. 9. During the exercise the tanker off loaded over 90,000 lbs of fuel to support the 23rd Expeditionary Bomber Squadron B-52 Stratofortress long duration mission. The KC-135 Stratotanker provides the core Air refueling capability for the United States Air Force and has excelled in this role for more than 50 years. The success of this exercise depends largely on support received from the 434th Air Refueling Wing, Grissom Air Reserve Base, Ind tanker unit deployed to Andersen.
