Global Hawk's first flight
The RQ-4 Global Hawk prepares to taxi down the flight line for its first flight at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Oct. 7, 2010. This is its first take-off since its arrival ceremony and it's the only permanently stationed aircraft on Andersen. Maj. Gen. Floyd Carpenter, 8th Air Force commander, arrives on a B-52 Stratofortress to visit Airmen deployed to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam on Aug. 29, 2010. General Carpenter flew more than 17 hours non-stop from Barksdale Air Force Base, La., to Andersen Air Force Base for a site visit. ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- F-22 Raptor pilots deployed from Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, welcome fellow aircraft to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Jan. 18. Andersen received 12 of the $140 million advanced aircraft along with more than 200 Airmen to begin a three month deployment as part of the Theater Security Package. The fifth generation fighter, along with associated maintenance and support personnel, are deployed as the 90th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron and will participate in various training missions while on island.
