Hurricane Hunters facilitate meteorological study from Andersen AFB

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam - Twelve oceanographic data buoys worth $480,000 fill the cargo bay of an Air Force Reserve WC-130J. Weather loadmaster from 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron released the buoys Sept. 20 in front of Typhoon Hagupit to record how the ocean interacts with the atmosphere as the storm passes. The 53rd WRS deployed to Andersen from Keesler AFB, Miss., in August to take part in a multinational meteorological study. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Courtney Witt)
