Fire fighting on Mt. Santa Rosa

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam - Fire climbs a ridge threatening a Federal Aviation Administration facility June 17. Firefighters worked from 1 to 6 p.m. to contain and extinguish a wild fire that burned approximately 50 acres on Mt. Santa Rosa. The fire threatened two Department of Defense sites valued at $30 million, a commercial site valued at $1.4 million and 27 houses. A combined effort by the Guam Fire Department, Andersen AFB Fire Department, Navy Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 aerial support, Navy Fire Department, 36th Civil Engineer Squadron, 554th RED HORSE Squadron totaling 68 people and 13 support vehicles contained the fire.
