This layout shows the paint scheme and condition of F-4E number 71-1392 before its refurbishment. Corrosion and tropical climates wreak havoc with anything that is stationary and exposed for long periods. While the 36th Maintenance Squadron’s fabrication flight handles most repairs and painting of Andersen’s static displays, Maj. David Boles, 36th MXS commander, said his unit welcomes any squadron that would like to volunteer to wash the displays as a group project from time to time. This effort can ensure the aircraft are kept up in appearance. (Photo illustration/Senior Airman Brian Kimball)
