Fire Safety
ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam - Senior Airman Steven Donatelli, 36th Wing Public Affairs Videographer, checks a uninterruptible power supply system for any daisy chains here Mar. 31. Daisy chains and mixed daisy chains constitute some of the most common violations.Several safe solutions exist. A power strip energized by an extension cord or another power strip can simply be replaced by a power strip with a power cord of adequate length to reach an outlet. The use of a power strip that is better able to accommodate bulkier transformer plugs solves the problem. Since models vary in the amount of current that they are rated to safely carry, it is important to consider the amperage requirements of the devices to be energized. Models vary in length of power cord, typically ranging from three to15 feet. Choose one whose length is most appropriate for reaching the intended room outlet. Don't forget to check the surge protector to make sure it is in good condition for use. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Courtney Witt)

Jellyfish wash ashore Tarague Beach
ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- Man of War jellyfish have been washing up on Tarague beach since Feb. 22 due to the high winds, causing the beach to close down. The jellyfish use the float portion of their bodies which can sometimes be seen above water, as a sail to make it inland to the beach. Only jellyfish small in size have washed up on the beach due to the coral reef. The reef prevents larger jellyfish from making it inland. (Courtesy Photo)
