Retiree Appreciation Day is an event designed to honor retirees and to highlight their service to the United States. It also provides a chance for retired military members and their families to receive the latest information about benefits, services and support from both base and local agencies, said the base retiree office director. "Over 500 invitations have been sent out to the local military retirees and survivors of the retirees," said retired Chief Master Sgt. David Ehlers, director of retiree affairs. "If there are any retirees who are not receiving updates, they should provide their emails to the RAO." Numerous organizations on- and off-base to include legal, Tricare, and the Veterans Affairs will be present to share information and offer assistance on many of the programs geared towards helping retirees. Additionally, during the event, flu shots will be given, courtesy of the 36th Medical Group. Col. John Dunks, 36th Mission Support Group commander, will be a guest speaker at the event. Guam Senator Frank Aguon will also be in attendance, as well as Chief Master Sgt. Gregory Rousey, 36th WG acting command chief. "Our veterans will have a chance to renew old acquaintances, make new friends, listen to guest speakers, renew ID cards and take advantage of the retiree related services." Ehlers said. The day's event is open to all retired military service members, their spouses, as well as widows and widowers of all service members. The RAO requests that retirees sign-up to ensure a seat as space is limited. To register, email email@example.com. When registering, retirees are asked to provide the following information: name, names of other family members attending, branch of service, email and phone number.
