Monique Jose Duvall 36th Wing Public Affairs ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, GUAM -- Team Andersen has adopted a smartphone application that lets users know what's going on around the base and the island. MyMC2, or My Military Communities, is an app for Android and Apple devices that centralizes events, organizations and services right in the palm of a user's hand. The app isn't restricted to just Air Force organizations; it also includes information from Joint Region Marianas, Naval Base Guam, Task Force Talon and Marine Corps Activity-Guam units. "It doesn't matter what day of the week it is; all the military installations on Guam have a significant amount of things going on," said Chief Master Sgt. Brent Sheehan, 36th Mission Support Group Superintendent. "This app is great because it utilizes technology to deliver information on a variety of events easily to Team Andersen and joint forces across Guam. Information from the military installations and helping agencies on Guam are all compiled into one place and can be accessed from anywhere cellular phone and Wi-Fi signals exist." Users are able to see activities happening by date, a directory of the participating organizations and quick-call buttons to the Suicide Hotline and Airmen Against Drunk Driving. Other functions like filter controls, calendar reminders, and sharing abilities via Facebook make the MyMC2 app a keeper. Smartphone users can search for "MyMC2" in their app store or use Quick Response codes to quickly download the app. After it installs, members can search for and select "Andersen AFB." Users can also switch to any of the other 51 bases participating globally in the MyMC2 app. My Military Communities was developed by the 375th Communications Squadron web application team at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., in 2012. "I think the quick dial phone number feature is the most important feature in the application," said Staff Sgt. Aaron Braswell, 375th CSPTS Application Development Flight Supervisor. "Having that information readily available to prevent a member (or family member) from committing suicide or driving drunk is priceless."
