Andersen Middle School Science Fair

On April 1, Andersen Middle School hosted 63 judges from the Andersen AFB Military Community to judge the 20 top science projects in grades 6, 7, and 8. Each of the science projects that were judged by the community have qualified for the All Island Science Fair schedule later this school year. Congratulations to the students and many thanks to everyone for their support and assistance. 

National Geography Bee Finalist
Word has been received from headquarters for the National Geography Bee that Zachary S. Mackellar qualified to take the test for the Pacific Territories on April 4 in the office of Congresswoman's Madeline Z. Bordallo. Congratulations to Zach on his accomplishments from the students and staff of Andersen Middle School. Zach is a seventh grader at Andersen Middle School and the son of Master Sgt. and Mrs. Scott Mackellar. He is among the top ten students on Guam, the Northern Marianas, and American Samoa taking this test.

Junior Science Humanities Symposium
Mariah McMinn, Andrew Martinez and Dalton Richardson represented Andersen Middle School at the Junior Science Humanities Symposium in mainland Japan during the week of March 24. Mariah McMinn placed second in "Oral Presentation" during this DoDDS/P - DDESS/Guam event. We are very proud of these students and their accomplishments while representing our school. Mrs. Doris Ada (7th Grade Science) was our "kids" sponsor throughout this school year at AMS.

Cross-Country at Andersen Middle School
The Andersen Middle School Dragon Cross-Country team open there season on April 2 at Tiyan Cross-Country track. Ours boys and girls teams are three time defending Middle School Champions in the IIAAG league. They are coached by Dr. Lillian Taitano (Physical Education/Health Instructor at Andersen Middle School.) "Go Dragons!"

Guam National History Day Competition
Nineteen students represented Andersen Middle School and placed at the Guam National History Day competition held at the Micronesian Mall on March 29. Two AMS students placed 3rd while 11 of our students placed at this all island event. The following students won first place at this event: Eugenia Sison (Individual Exhibit); Eric Roberts, Donato Meyers, and Zachary Wesolowski (Website); Justine San Augustine and Audre Dela Cruz (Group Documentary). Each of our first place winners will represent the island of Guam and Andersen Middle School at the University of Maryland (in the states) in mid-June this summer. Congratulations are in order for our AMS students' hard work and their sponsors, Mrs. Mary Williams (National History Day Coordinator) and Mrs. Elizabeth Cruz (Classroom Teacher).
