The Lady Bombers base softball team thrashed the Lady Gap team, 17-2, to win the Yigo League championship Oct. 25 at Yigo's softball field.

Staff Sgt. Chad Thomas, Lady Bombers head coach and member of the 734th Air Mobility Squadron, led the team to a 12-3 record, securing the division championship.

"It took a lot of dedication from more than just me to make this a great team," Sergeant Thomas said. "I would personally like to thank all the ladies and all of those who helped make this team a success, especially the players from the men's Bomber Team who took time to help with drills, fundamentals, and practices."

The Lady Bombers had to win two games to pull off the championship victory during the double-elimination tournament. By squeaking past the Lady Gap team, 8-7, in the first matchup, they opened the proverbial window of opportunity.

"Before the game started, I told the ladies that everyone on the team contributed throughout the season, so everyone will contribute in the championship game as well," Sergeant Thomas said. By the 5th inning, everyone had played at least one inning and the score was 15-1, Lady Bombers."

Six teams competed in the tournament, but in the end, the Lady Bombers earned the bragging rights against their archrivals.
