Team Andersen puts on a show

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam --  Thirty five children and one adult from Team Andersen performed in front of more than 100 people at the 36th Force Support Squadron Youth Program's piano recital at The Top of the Rock here, Nov. 17.

The children worked with Wayne Lumpkin and Dale Garcia, Youth Center piano instructors, for more than three months to prepare for the recital.

"The performers did a great job," Mr. Lumpkin said. "They looked really comfortable and handled their nerves really well while they were on stage."

The piano recital coordinators wanted to focus on the family aspect of the performances and had both mother perform with her daughter and siblings perform together during the recital.

"The children and their families were very thankful for the recital," Mr. Lumpkin said. "One mother told me she is 'really amazed at how the children's knowledge grows after each performance,' but we want them to be good enough to play at other places as well."

The Youth Center offers instructions to children age six and up for piano, guitar, drums, ukulele, bass and flute. For questions regarding music lessons, contact Dale Garcia at 366-3490.
