More than 400 members from Team Andersen came together for the 36th Force Support Squadron's Annual Memorial Day Bash, held May 24 on Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.

The event featured face painting, water buffalo riding, a dunk booth, a moon bounce obstacle course, a cardboard boat race, food and beverages.

Tech Sgt. Glenn Garcia, 36th FSS Hot Spot NCO in charge, explained the celebration was important for not only children, but service members as well, because it gave them a chance to relax and have a great time with family and friends.

Throughout the afternoon, people browsed the different booths and listened to the tunes being played, but realized it was more about camaraderie and children being around children and depending on one another.

"It's important we have events like these to create camaraderie and know we're not alone trying to complete the Air Force mission," said Tech. Sgt. Arnel Dorn, 36th Civil Engineer Squadron. "Some of us are far away from home and we forget about the little things that matter and I just wanted to bring my daughter out to show her she's not alone."

Team Andersen was also joined by the Harley Owners of Guam, who allowed children and Airmen to pose for pictures on their Harleys as they gave briefings about the importance of being safe on the road, tips for navigating Guam's streets and other motorcycle safety information.

"Seeing the children, families and leadership faces during and after the event made all the hard work worth it," Garcia said.

The 36th FSS' next event is the Freedom Fest, July 3, to celebrate Independence Day.
