Junior Defenders patrol Andersen Published March 2, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Carissa Wolff 36th Wing Public Affairs ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- While the rest of Team Andersen were participating the annual Take Your Child to Work Day, more than 20 Andersen Elementary School students traded in their lunch boxes for badges during the 36th Security Forces Squadron's Junior Defender Day Feb. 25. Students who attended Junior Defender Day participated in "battle rattle" dress up, vehicle patrol stops, ATV Rhino and Mule rides, guard mount, unit physical training, a military working dog demonstration and more. At the end of the day, the students were ready for more. "My son and daughter were still very excited hours later and talking about the day when we were at the dinner table," said Master Sgt. Brian Simpson, 36th SFS. Staff Sgt. Jerelle Faust's children liked the event, especially the baton training and vehiccle patrol stops. "It was fun hitting the red man with the baton and watching him fall down," said Ariana Faust. "It was cool when we got to act like cops and pull bad guys over and handcuff them when they tried to run," said Jason Faust. "I like going to work with my dad." The day was a very important one not only for the kids but for 36th SFS members as well, said Sergeant Faust. "This is a really good thing because it helps the kids understand our job and what we do on a daily basis," said Sergeant Faust. "I think because they have an understanding of what we do, it decreases their fear for their parents when they are gone to a deployment zone."
