The new AAFES shopping center shows great progress

The construction site of the new Army Air Force Exchange Service shopping center shows great progress at over 90 percent complete here July 24.

Andersen's new BX has been undergoing construction since the ground breaking Jan. 18, 2007. The projected completion date of the shopping center was originally scheduled for Aug. 25, 2008 but was pushed back to September 10, 2008.

The project costs an estimated $35 million dollars and covers an expansive 181,000 square feet.

The grand opening celebration is predicted to draw hundreds of people to Andersen with to take advantage of promotional giveaways and sales.

"I expect that everyone who has access to the base will be here on grand opening day. AAFES vendors will have great giveaways to include a new car," explains Mr. Dave Parker AAFES store manager.

The AAFES team has been stocking shelves for over two weeks and is currently working seven days a week and 12 hours per day to get the store ready for the grand opening.

"The store will be stocked with retail valued at over $10 million dollars," said Mr. Parker

The shopping center is a will provide an assortment of products and services to include day spa, furniture store, computer repair store and much more.
