Team Andersen complies with new PACAF fit testing procedures Published Feb. 26, 2009 By Senior Airman Nichelle Griffiths 36th Wing Public Affairs ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- Beginning March 1, Team Andersen will implement Pacific Air Forces' new physical fitness assessment procedures. Gen. Howie Chandler, PACAF commander, directed PACAF bases to centralize its fitness tests through health and wellness centers in mid-December. The change ensures better test standardization and alleviates demand on physical training leaders who had to administer the tests. "Centralized testing will standardize the process for the base and should ensure 100 percent currency every month," said Brian Killen, 36th Wing fitness manager. The HAWC will test all members between 6 to 9 a.m. Members will meet at the HAWC at 6 a.m. for waist measuring, weigh in, push-ups and sit-ups and then proceed to a designated location for the 1.5 mile run. "The HAWC is currently staffed with three people and all will be fully involved in the process. Additional civilian hires are expected to take place in the near future, which will further reduce the demands placed on individual units as fewer PTLs will be needed to augment HAWC staff," Killen explained. During March alone the HAWC staff expects to conduct more than 120 fitness assessments. Unit PTLs are still expected to lead and conduct unit physical training sessions.
