After 15 years, outdoor recreation has returned to its old location at Bldg. 25018, previously occupied by the base furniture store.

The move allows outdoor recreation to broaden its inventory to better accommodate Team Andersen's renting needs.

"We operated out of this building throughout the '80s, until December of 1994," said Ray Stiers, Outdoor recreation director. "I'm really happy that we're back in our original location again."

The outdoor recreation staff is putting the shop's newfound space to good use.

"Due to the extra space, we are ordering more of our most popular rentals, such as camping gear, party items and bouncy castles," said Peter Flores, 36th FSS outdoor recreation assistant. "We also have more room to put our items on display."

Outdoor recreation is also experiencing an increase operation performance because of the condition of the building.

"It's a lot easier to perform our operations in this building due to the renovations that have been made since 1994," said Mr. Stiers, director of outdoor recreation. "Operation performance has also increased due to the amount of space we have. We've gained approximately 200 square feet by moving here. It's like being in a completely new building with the feel of home in it."

The new location also has the advantage of being closer to Airmen in the dorms.

The Airmen in the dorms no longer have to walk across base to reach the shop, Mr. Flores said. This is definitely a benefit considering the Airmen will probably access the store more often now in its new location.

Outdoor recreation's current hours of operation are Monday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The shop is closed Wednesday, Sunday and holidays closed.
