The 36th Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant, spoke to Airmen during an enlisted call Aug. 8 at the Meehan Theater.

During the enlisted call, Chief Master Sgt. Michael McMillan discussed several topics to include the renovations to the dining facility, the importance of being a first-line supervisor and changes to the enlisted evaluation system.

The Chief explained to the NCOs that the wing leadership is pursuing alternatives for the Airmen impacted by Top of the Rock temporary dining facility renovations.

One of the options discussed was paying meal card holder's basic allowance for sustenance during the renovation period so the Airmen have an option to eat where they want.

"It's a great feeling knowing our leadership is doing what they can to provide us with alternatives while the DFAC is being renovated," said Airman 1st Class Stephen Haynes, 36th Comptroller Squadron costumer service technician. "It makes me feel appreciated."

The Command Chief went on to say how important the roles and responsibilities of first-line supervisors are.

"Our first-line supervisors are extremely important to the Air Force," McMillan said. "It amazes me when I talk to young Airmen and they are getting out of the military. They aren't quitting the Air Force; they're quitting their supervisors. We have to make sure we are fulfilling our responsibilities as supervisors and ensuring our Airmen have what they need to accomplish the mission. We work for them and they work for the Air Force."

Feedback sessions are a key component to setting accurate expectations and give supervisors a chance to engage with their Airmen.

"We go into these feedback sessions and give the Airmen 5-and-10 minute of feedback and expect them to learn and grow," he said. "These Airmen are looking for leadership and we have to provide it for them."

The Chief also shared insight on the new enlisted evaluation system along with the promotion system and how Airmen shouldn't be worried.

"Now that the Air Force is changing the system, people are worried about promotions," McMillan said. "If you are doing what you need to do in accordance with the Enlisted Force Structure, this new system shouldn't be an issue."
