Martinez Guam Air National Guard Public Affairs ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- During a change-of-command ceremony Aug.11, Capt. Joseph Pangelinan assumed command of the 254th Security Forces Squadron at the Oceanview Conference Center, Andersen Air Force Base. The outgoing 254th SFS commander, Capt. Anthony San Nicolas, was awarded an Air Force Meritorious Service Medal for his leadership accomplishments. "I was greatly humbled to serve you as commander, and today, I'd like to thank and commemorate all the men and women of the 254th SFS for their superb accomplishments," said he said. Capt. San Nicolas also thanked his family and all the other members of the Guam Air National Guard and the Family Readiness Group for all their hard work, dedication and support. "We were all determined to make the unit successful," he added. After his departing message, members of the 254th SFS gave him a final salute. Later during the ceremony, the Airmen gave a first salute to Capt. Joseph Pangelinan, the incoming 254th SFS commander. "Sir, I assume command," said Captain Pangelinan told the 254th Air Base Group commander as he took the squadron's guidon. "I'm truly honored to be here today," he said. The captain was assigned to the 254th Civil Engineer Squadron prior to the assumption of command ceremony. "It's been a privilege and blessing to be part of the 254th Civil Engineer Squadron," said Pangelinan. "Being a part of the 254th CES has prepared me for this passage." "I know the 254th SFS motto is 'One shot, one kill,'" said the incoming 254th SFS commander. He added that it also is "One team, one family."
