Sports shorts are designed to be short articles that describe an upcoming sporting, fitness or health related activities associated with Andersen AFB. To submit a sport short, send an e-mail to thepacificedge@andersen.af.mil or call 366-4202. 

Home Run Derby
The 36th Services Squadron is hosting a slam dunk contest Oct. 17 at the fitness center. Contestants must sign up by Sept. 16. For more information call 366-6100.

One-on-One Basketball Tournament
The 36th Services Squadron is hosting a one-on-one basketball tournament Oct. 26 to 27 at the fitness center. Contestants must sign up by Sept. 25.  For more information call 366-6100.

Football Frenzy at the Top of the Rock 
Football Frenzy kicks off at 11 a.m. every Tuesday in the Hightides. Watch live NFL football and enjoy an authentic "Tailgate Lunch Buffet." Club members can register for door prizes, a chance to win tickets to a regular season game, Super Bowl or the Pro Bowl, or a $500 gift certificate. The Tailgate lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost for lunch is just $5 for members and $6 for nonmembers. Call 366-6166 for more information.

Softball Tryouts
Andersen's Base Softball Team will hold Men's Softball try-outs for all active duty military, their spouses and dependents 18 years or older, DOD personnel or anyone assigned or attached to Andersen AFB. Try-outs will be held on the Oct. 4 at 4:30 p.m. and Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. Each try-out will last three hours. The tryouts will be held at the base softball field, which is across from building 21000.  Anyone interested in participating must show up on time on the scheduled dates. No pre-registration will be neccessary.
All participants will need to provide their own equipment for each try-out date.

Club Championship Golf Tournament
The annual Palm Tree Golf Course Club Championship Tournament, will be held Oct. 20 to 21at 7 a.m. This tournament will be a 36-hole, individual gross event, flighted by handicap. Participants must have an established handicap and hold a  membership at Palm Tree Golf Course. The entry fee is $50, whiche does not include cart fees. The fee includes food and a chance to win door prizes including a trip courtesy of Northwest Airlines. Rappelling Adventure
Enjoy a rappelling adventure with outdoor recreation Sept. 29, at 7:45 a.m. The adventure includes ground instruction, use of all equipment and a 75 to 100 foot rappell. The cost of the rappellinis $35 per person. Previous experience is not necessary. For more information contact outdoor recreation at 366-5197.

Lower Sigua Falls and Tank Farm Hike
Hike to one of the most secluded and impressive waterfalls on Guam during this 6.5 mile outdoor recreation outing Sept. 29, at 7:45 a.m. Cost is $5 per person. Be sure to bring along a lunch and plenty of water. This is a medium to advanced hike, with a minimum age of 12. To sign-up or for more information contact outdoor recreation at 366-5197.
