Congratulations are in order for an Airman in the 734th Air Mobility Squadron.

Tech. Sgt. Terry Fisher is the recipient of the 2007 Airlift/Tanker Association Col. Gail Halvorsen Award.

Colonel Halvorsen was a C-47/C-54 transport pilot during World War II in the South Atlantic. He flew during Operation Vittles in the Berlin Airlift where he instituted Operation Little Vittles by dropping small parachutes laden with candy to the children of Berlin.

This act of kindness became the humanitarian heart that kept the aircrews going, fueled the hope of all Berliners, and set the mold for all future humanitarian airlift operations.

Each year the A/TA recognizes an Air Transportation Specialist who has demonstrated superior leadership, made outstanding contributions to the airlift/tanker mission, and provides invaluable service to their civilian communities.

The award will be presented to Sergeant Fisher during the annual A/TA national convention Oct. 24 through 28 in his hometown, Nashville, Tenn.

"He is truly deserving of this prestigious honor," said Chief Master Patricia Streeter, 734th AMS superintendent of aerial port operations.

Sergeant Fisher is the NCOIC of the 734th AMS Passenger Service Flight. He supervises 32 personnel, and he led the movement of 12,000 passengers on 2,600 aircraft, which helped the squadron earn the 15th Expeditionary Mobility Task Force "Best Reliability" Award in 2006.

He was also a key player to the squadron receiving an "Excellent" rating during the 2006 Air Mobility Command Logistics Standardization and Evaluation Program inspection.

Furthermore, Sergeant Fisher was instrumental to a significant passenger terminal reorganization which identified waste and eliminated unnecessary processes. This reorganization saved value man-hours and it also resulted in a passenger show-time reduction from three to two hours.

As an active member in the community, Sergeant Fisher is involved with the Andersen Elementary Mentorship program and is a member of the Dededo Community Park restructuring team. He is also the vice president for the 734th AMS Top 4 organization.

Sergeant Fisher is currently working on his master's degree in international business and plans to pursue his doctorate's degree in industrial and organizational psychology.
