In the event they are ever needed to respond to a military aircraft emergency, 24 Guam Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting members recently received training from two Andersen firefighters to enhance their readiness skills.

Staff Sgt. Francis Tagalog and Airman 1st Class Matthew Derheim, both from the 36th Civil Engineer Squadron fire department, shared their knowledge and expertise in egress, shutdown procedures and aircraft firefighting operations.

"We plan to make this an on-going training," said Sergeant Tagalog. "We'll help them with military aircraft and they will help us with commercial aircraft. We have plans to bring members of the Guam ARFF onto Andersen to get hands-on training with some of the aircraft we deal with from day to day."

Because the Guam ARFF only receive live fire training once a year in Saipan, there are also plans for them to receive the training at Andersen's Aircraft Training Pit.

The trainees also received CD-ROMs to help them become more familiar with different types of military aircraft.

"We look forward to training again with the Guam ARFF crew in the near future," said Sergeant Tagalog.
