Luncheon closes 2007 CFC Published Dec. 17, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Carissa Morgan 36th Wing Public Affairs ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- Andersen closed out the 2007 Combined Federal Campaign with a luncheon Dec. 13 in which charitable servicemembers' accomplishments and Andersen's success were recognized. In a joint cooperation with the local community, Team Andersen, the Naval Base, Guam Air National Guard and Guam Army National Guard donated $411,877 to the CFC, making it a success. A total of 74 awards were received by units that had a significant donation from 20 to 39, 40 to 59, 60 to 79 or 80 to 100 percent of their potential participation. This year 4,612 individuals donated to the CFC, and there was a 22 percent increase from donations in 2006. The USS Frank Cable alone was awarded 10 awards for their outstanding donations. CFC is the largest workplace charity campaign in the country. Since its inception in 1961, the federal community has donated more than $5.75 billion to the CFC. According to the official CFC web site, pledges made by federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season support eligible non-profit organizations which provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. The CFC offers a reliable, consistent and easy way of supporting charities which are designed to assist those who are most in need. In 2006, federal employees and military personnel donated more than $271 million to the CFC.
