Scavenger hunt results in a proposal

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam --  Love is in the air around this time of year and it certainly was for Staff Sergeant Curt Mitchell, 36th Mission Support Squadron and his now fiancée Senior Airman Warrenette Cobb, 36th Civil Engineering Squadron. 

Sergeant Mitchell hatched a plan to surprise his then girlfriend with a unique proposal at the end of December last year. Sergeant Mitchell began to orchestrate his master plan to surprise his girlfriend by telling his six year old daughter to keep a secret. 

"Camille loves to keep secrets, especially to surprise someone," said Sergeant Mitchell. 

The original plan had the proposal set for Valentine's Day. Sergeant Mitchell, however, decided that Valentine's wasn't the right time to spring the surprise. 

"A proposal on Valentine's Day would have been expected, I didn't want Warrenette to expect it I wanted her to be utterly surprised," said Sergeant Mitchell. 

The plan to surprise Senior Airman Cobb turned out to be a scavenger hunt. 

"I talked to her commander and asked him to 'chew her out' for misuse of government computers," said Sergeant Mitchell. "During the meeting she was given a card instructing her to leave work in 15 minutes and had rules she had to follow. She had to go home and wear an uncoordinated outfit to her hair appointment, which I cancelled and rescheduled. At the end of her hair appointment she was to head directly to Papaya, where she was given an outfit to change into by the manager of the store, and in the dressing room there was another card telling her to proceed to Ruby Tuesday. Upon arriving at Ruby Tuesday she was ushered to a table with a card telling her to eat her meal, which arrived as soon as she sat down. The final card was given to her at 8 p.m., instructing her to go to the House of Brutus, where I sang four songs to her and proposed to her at the end of the fourth." 

According to Sergeant Mitchell, Senior Airman Cobb had no idea what was going on, and was in total shock. 

She said yes through tears, said Sergeant Mitchell. 

The newly engaged couple have been together nearly a year after meeting through a friend at a St. Patrick's Day function.
