AFMC vice commander visits Arc Light LOA Published March 25, 2008 By Capt. Adam Rector 36th Munitions Squadron ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- The Arc Light Chapter of the Logistics Officer Association played host to a special guest recently. Lt. Gen. Terry Gabreski, Air Force Material Command vice commander, joined the group for a logistics luncheon March 10. "Lieutenant General Gabreski provided us with insight on Air Force Material Command's support to the war fighter, and the Air Force's way ahead for future wing organizational changes," said Arc Light Chapter President Maj. Hollis "Chuck" Payne. "This was a tremendous pleasure and rewarding opportunity for the Arc Light Chapter to have the Air Force's senior ranking logistic officer inspire us with her extensive knowledge." During the event, the general touched on a variety of topics ranging from the many changes occuring in the logistics field to the realignment of aircraft maintenance function within the operations group level. The general acknowledged the realignment has been a contentious issue with some but encouraged the officers to move forward and to find a way to make it work. She reflected back on her days as a young officer when the Air Force was consolidating maintenance technicians. "Everyone told me it wasn't working, but I was a young Lt, and it was the only system I knew," she explained. Before she left, Maj. Payne presented General Gabreski with a plaque thanking the general for her continued support.
