Airmen celebrate fiesta with Inarajan residents Published May 19, 2008 36th Wing Public Affairs ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- As part of the Air Force's local Sister Village Program, 17 Andersen Airmen from the 36th Security Forces Squadron participated in the annual Malojloj Fiesta in Inarajan, held in honor of the patron saint, San Isidro, on May 17. The Airmen shared in the celebration with the community by riding some of the squadron's all terrain vehicles and humvees. Even McGruff, the law enforcement dog, made an appearance giving away candy to families. The 36th SFS also had a display showing off some of their personnel and equipment at the end of the parade. Started in 1974, the Sister Village program pairs military units with local villages to foster and develop a program of mutual sharing and understanding between the people of Guam and military personnel and their families. The 36th SFS is assigned to Inarajan and also provides support by donating school supplies to the elementary and middle schools and by helping clean up Inarajan village. "We wanted to show that we don't only stay inside our Andersen gates but we support our outside community and the troops on Guam," said Senior Master Sgt. Glenn Aguon, 36th SFS Logistics Superintendent. "We hope it was a morale booster for them as well."
