Bette Stebbins, DoD SAPRO senior victim care specialist, led the four-person team tasked to pick the brains of Team Andersen members in search of ways to make their program fit the needs of all Armed Forces members. "The team was here to determine whether SAPR policies and programs were working, where they might be improved and where additional assistance is required," said Capt. Marie Williams, 36th Wing sexual assault response coordinator. According to a DoD report on sexual assault in the military for the 2007 fiscal year, there were 2,688 total reports of sexual assault involving military members. "Sexual assault violates the core values of what being a professional in the Armed Forces is all about and is something that ultimately destroys unit cohesion and the trust that is essential for mission success," Capt. Williams said. For more information on sexual assault prevention and response, visit www.sapr.mil. To become a victim advocate, contact Capt. Williams at 366-7714.
