Scrapbook service now offered on Andersen

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam --  The Andersen Arts and Crafts Center offers a new service for avid scrap bookers who can't seem to find the time to scrapbook themselves. The arts and craft center and staff created the scrapbook service a month ago after a customer suggested the idea.

A single page of a scrapbook can take anywhere from a few hours to a whole day to complete, said Kat Espiritu, 36th Force Support Squadron arts and crafts center staff. This is why the scrapbook service prices are determined on a case by case basis.

Patrons must provide the photos they wish to go into the scrapbook, and may provide other materials, such as the scrapbook and other supplies. If a patron has no supplies, the center provides the supplies and applies them to the overall cost of the scrapbook service.

The scrapbook service requires the patron to have all items they want in their scrapbook to the arts and craft shop two to three weeks prior to the scheduled date of completion determined by the arts and crafts center staff.

Three staff members run the scrapbook service.

"I didn't have to take any special courses to be able to scrapbook," Ms. Espiritu said. "All I need is my imagination and some creativity."

Scrapbooking is a hobby for some people but for the three staff members at the arts crafts center, it's a job.

Scrapbooking is very challenging, but rewarding at the same time, said Nuttiya Jitsoontorn, 36th FSS arts and crafts center staff. It's always nice to see what the final product looks like.

Although new, the scrapbook service seems destined to have a permanent spot in the arts and crafts center.

"The scrapbook service is great because it frees up time of busy military personnel, and still allows them to have something to remember an important part of their life by," Ms. Espiritu said. "It's a win-win service."
