The fall season is upon us and with that comes a community outreach event known as Harvest Fest held at Andersen's Chapel two. The annual Harvest Fest is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. at the Chapel Activity Center, Chapel two Annex and the Chapel two grounds, Oct. 31

"The Harvest Fest is free of charge and the event is sponsored and funded by the Andersen Chapel," said Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Dana Grover, 36th Wing. "Donations of candy and food are provided by the members of the chapel for distribution at the children's games and activities."

Last year's event was well attended with approximately 250 children and family members.

Volunteers are also welcome to help with the Harvest Fest.

"Last year we had a several deployed personnel who volunteered their time to ensure the success of Harvest Fest," said Chaplain (Capt.) Paul Castillo, 36th WG.

There is not a requirement that volunteers wear costumes, however, if a volunteer chooses to wear a costume, the costume must not be scary or frightening.

The Harvest Fest will have activities to include a dunking booth, a duck pond, face painting, sack races, a jumpy castle and a cake walk. Candy, popcorn, hotdogs, apple cider, caramel apples and beverages will also be provided. Additionally, baked goods will be awarded during the cake walk activity.

"My family attends this event annually, Chaplain Castillo said. "It is a wonderful time to meet new people and enjoy the company of friends."
