ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam - Brig. Gen. Phil Ruhlman 36th Wing commander, greets Maj. Gen. Hideo Wakabayashi, Japan Air Self Defense Force Air Defense Command Defense Plans and Operations Chief, who arrived here Feb. 12 for a two-day site visit of Andersen AFB. General Wakabayashi visited the base to learn about the 36th Wing’s mission and to visit with participants of the Cope North exercise that ended Feb. 13. Cope North is an annual bilateral exercise where U.S. and Japanese forces train to improve interoperability. More than 400 U.S. and JASDF members, and more than 20 aircraft, including JASDF F-2's, JASDF E-2C Hawkeyes, U.S. Navy EA-6B Prowlers, U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortresses and F-16 Falcons flew in the exercise.
