Andersen AFB rings in New Year with Tops in Blue Published Dec. 9, 2009 By Senior Airman Shane Dunaway 36th Wing Public Affairs ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- The Air Force's most widely traveled, premier entertainment group, Tops in Blue, is scheduled to perform Jan. 2 at 7:00 p.m. in Hangar 6. The hangar doors open at 6:15. The Tops in Blue theme for 2009 is "To Dream," a music ensemble designed to inspire the American dream. "This year's Tops In Blue team is indeed a reflection of the 'Best of the Best,'" said Ralph Ridgeway, 36th Force Support Squadron chief of marketing. "Representing a wide variety of career specialties, they are an elite group of the most talented non-professional entertainers from throughout the Air Force. These enthusiastic active-duty airmen display the pride, patriotism and dedication felt by all Air Force personnel around the world. The show is guaranteed to energize hearts and souls and remind each of us that we stand proudly for America, its people and its music. Don't miss this powerful and unforgettable show." More than 1,000 Team Andersen members and their families attended the group's most recent performance, and Tech. Sgt. Max Pontenila, a 36th FSS member working at the HotSpot, expects close to the same attendance figures for the upcoming performance, if not more. "Realize that this is the holidays and the performers, just like our deployers, are also spending time away from their families just to give us a taste of home," Sergeant Pontenila said. The HotSpot staff coordinated and scheduled the Tops in Blue performance, but they'll need a helping hand to prepare for the big show. Sergeant Pontenila and his staff are currently seeking 20 or more volunteers to help set up before the performance and tear down once the show has completed. Parking and shuttle service is currently being coordinated and up-to-date information will be released on the Commander's Access Channel and marquee as it becomes available. For more information on the performance or to volunteer, contact Sergeant Pontenila at 366-2339.
