Lt. Gen. Hawk Carlisle, 13th Air Force commander, visited the 36th Wing Jan. 14-15 to take a gander at the multi-faceted capabilities Andersen Air Force Base has to offer the Pacific Air Forces region.

The visit was the general's first since taking command of 13th Air Force in September.

On the first day of the visit, General Carlisle focused mainly on the flying mission, visiting numerous 36th Operations Squadron and 36th Maintenance Squadron facilities and gaining insight on the Continuous Bomber Presence and Theater Security Package missions. General Carlisle also visited the 36th Security Forces Squadron.

"Andersen provides a major deterrent for [potential] adversaries - a continued presence for Pacific adversaries to see," General Carlisle said.

Day two's visit focused on the quality of life issues and Andersen's humanitarian capabilities. General Carlisle visited the housing area, Tinian Hall and the 36th Medical Group clinic to catch a glimpse of how Airmen live and the amenities provided for them.

The tour closed with visits to the 36th Munitions Squadron and the 36th Contingency Response Group's many assets, including the Commando Warrior course at the Pacific Air Forces Regional Training Center and the 554th RED HORSE Squadron.

During his stops, General Carlisle took the time to recognize nearly a dozen Team Andersen members for their hard work and dedication to the 36th Wing.
