John Doucette, 36th Wing commander, Col. Alan Weider, 36th Mission Support Group commander, Ms. Michele Jacobs, 36th Force Support Squadron, Hotspot/Community Activates director, Madison and Asher Guinzy cut the ribbon signifying the Grand Opening of the Community Center here, Nov. 19. The Community Center, Andersen's newest edition in the plaza arcade area next to the Hotspot with its entrance is through the gym, offers a wide variety of activities for families to enjoy. "We have computers with internet access, free wifi thought the facility, televisions, [gaming consoles] and a blu-ray player for families to use," explains Master Sgt. Michelle Henderson, 36th Force Support Squadron, Hotspot/Community Activities Non-Commissioned Officer In charge. "The Community Center has something for everyone," according to Elaine Sorrell wife of 36th Communications Squadron commander Jeffrey Sorrell, "I'm a big fan of Community Centers, you have the Child Development Center for the younger children, the Youth Center and Teen Center but since I have such a wide range of ages in the house, it's a place we can all go," she added. "I'm really excited about the opening and I look forward in seeing what activities it has in store for the future," she said. The Community Center is open Friday through Saturday from 10-2 a.m. On Sundays and holidays, the center is open from noon to 8 p.m. For more information about the Community Center please call 366-2339.
