Access road paves way to convenience Published April 1, 2012 By Airman 1st Class Whitney Tucker 36th Wing Public Affairs ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam - Freshly paved and painted, the road easing post office traffic and providing direct access to the softball field is scheduled to be open for use April 2. The $300,000 project is a continuation of Mobile Avenue and now spans from 5th Street, across 4th Street and into the softball field parking lot. During the construction of the current Base Exchange, the old access road was demolished. In order to remedy this inconvenience, a contract to begin work was awarded in February, and the project moved into the construction phase in early March. Because of its position, the continuation of Mobile Avenue not only provides ease of access for those operating vehicles, but allows pedestrians and cyclists to smoothly transition from one high-traffic area to the next.
