36th Medical Group’s Operational Support Team embed with 36th Security Forces Squadron to conduct an Advanced Physical Trainer Certification course at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Feb. 26, 2025.

The course is created to certify participants to be PTL leaders for their respective sections. These students will return to their sections and use their new knowledge to help bolster unit physical training sessions with safety and effectiveness.

“Our mission is to improve mission readiness through PTL’s [Physical Training Leaders], so they can have a greater impact on their respective units,” said Jonathan Voor, 36th Wing Operation Support Team manager.

The course is conducted by OST strength and conditioning specialist Jasmin Wenzel-Javier.

The course begins with a classroom aspect covering workout form fundamentals, fitness risk factors, and effective fitness program design. The remainder of the course includes a practicum component where the PTL’s apply what they learned and bring it to their squadrons/flights PT.

The end goal is to have educated coaches which will prevent further injuries and therefore need less waivers. It will keep military members mission ready, alleviate medical expenses and promoting a higher level of fitness for SFS members.
