Swinging into Slingstone 24-4 Published Oct. 15, 2024 By Airman 1st Class Manasseh Demissie 36th Wing ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- Slingstone 24-4 kicks off at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. The exercise is slated to run from Oct. 15, 2024 until Oct. 25, 2024. This exercise is to showcase Andersen AFB capabilities to deter opportunistic acts of aggression through forward presence and the ability to rapidly respond to crises, and assure our Allies and partners in the region. “This exercise empowers the Airmen of the 36th Wing to take charge of their training, and allow us to validate our ability to execute the pacing OPLAN,” said Brig. Gen. Thomas Palenske, 36th Wing Commander This iteration will provide training primarily on Guam and the CNMI, which will enable aircrew and Airmen to become more familiar with the Pacific-theater while on U.S. soil. Airmen involved in the exercise, aim to enhance the enduring skills and build relationships amongst each other to be able to confront a broad range of global challenges in support of the National defense Strategy. “For this exercise, we will be simulating many of the issues and limitations our Airmen would face in a real-world situation”, said Mr. Jeffery Grimes, 36th Wing Executive Director. “These simulations showcase to our Airmen and Air Force leadership the challenges Andersen AFB is capable of overcoming.” Andersen AFB is committed to being the forward edge and prepared to bolster our collective ability to support a free and open Indo-Pacific.
