Team Andersen hosts Tactical Strength and Conditioning Practitioner (TSAC) Course Published Sept. 12, 2024 By Airman 1st Class Audree Campbell 36 Wing Public Affairs ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- A Tactical Strength and Conditioning Practitioner (TSAC) course consisting of over 30 participants from different units is being conducted from 10 – 20, Sept. 2024. The course is created to certify participants to be coaches or better yet, TSAC Practitioners. These facilitators will return to their respective squadrons and use their new knowledge to help bolster unit physical training sessions. “Having this course is the brainchild of the med group’s previous Doctor of Physical Therapy, Maj. Meredith Studer,” said Jasmin Wenzel, 36th Wing Operation Support Team strength and conditioning specialist. “Staff Sgt. Ashley, Capt. Brock, Jonathan Voor and I wanted to ensure we saw it through after she left.” The course is conducted by strength and conditioning specialists’ instructors from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. This team of professionals are called the Operational Support Team (OST.) They can provide the class with in-depth look at specific movements, rest ratios, and specific movements that help Participants of the class not only consisted of Wenzel and her team but also Army, Air Force, and Marines making up the 30 plus members of the class promoting morale in a joint environment. “The end goal is to have educated coaches which will prevent further injuries and therefore need less waivers. It will keep military members mission ready, alleviate medical expenses and promoting a higher level of fitness for members,” said Wenzel. The course begins with a classroom aspect covering coaching fundamentals, professionalism, and program design. The remainder of the course includes components that break down and focus on running, calisthenics, and competitive activities. Again thank you to the OST team, Capt. Breanna Brock, Staff Sgt.
