Helping agencies across Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, hosted a resource fair at the local Base Exchange on Sept. 6, 2024, to kick off Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.

September is recognized as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and annually Andersen AFB focuses on raising awareness about suicide prevention tactics.

In addition to the resource fair, multiple agencies are teaming up to host future events throughout the month, such as; an awareness wave, a potluck for community partners and a 5K in honor of those who lost their battle to suicide.

“It takes all of us to put the effort in to prevent suicide,” said Rosa Castro, 36th Wing Integrated Resilience Office prevention specialist. “We set up resource tables to let our coworkers and families know that we are here to support throughout the year, not just for the month of September.”

Team Andersen is committed to fostering a resilient environment and continuing to promote mental health care.
