Navy to Conduct Field Carrier Landing Practice at Andersen AFB Published May 22, 2020 By Joint Region Marianas Public Affairs ASAN, Guam -- The U.S. Navy announced today it will conduct Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) at Andersen Air Force Base (AFB) starting May 22, in order to qualify the pilots of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 for underway carrier operations. All training, both day and night, will be conducted at Andersen AFB. This routine training is required to prepare the pilots of the fixed-wing aircraft (F/A-18E, F/A-18F, EA-18G, E-2C and C-2A) attached to USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) for operations at sea aboard the carrier. U.S. military operations launched from Guam in the Indo-Pacific region are routine and consistent with the forward presence we have maintained in the region, however, during FCLP there will be increased operations at Andersen AFB. All pilots and Sailors participating in FCLP at Andersen AFB have exceeded more than two weeks of restriction of movement (ROM) and at the end of their ROM received two negative COVID-19 tests and remained symptom-free. Participating members will adhere to all restrictions and guidance put in place by the Navy and Air Force to include: social distancing, hygiene recommendations, sanitization standards, and wear of personal protective equipment.
