KONA, Hawaii – Tech. Sgt. Lisa Deal, an aeromedical evacuation technician from Kadena Air Base, Japan, installs a support beam for an Alaskan Shelter during the set up of a fully functional medical facility at the Kona International Airport, Kona, Hawaii, Jan. 29. Approximately 900 Department of Defense personnel are participating in Pacific Lifeline, a total force humanitarian assistance and disaster relief exercise taking place from three locations within the Hawaiian Islands through Feb. 9. Led by 13th Air Force, Pacific Lifeline provides an integrated team of Air Force and Army active-duty, Air National Guard and Reserve Component forces a training environment to test their abilities to respond to and support humanitarian and natural disaster relief operations within the Pacific Region.
