Military Working Dog Memorial
ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam - Staff Sgt. Roberto Cheeseboro, a 36th Security Forces Squadron military working dog handler, speaks about his time as Freddy's dog handler during a memorial service Thursday at the 36th SFS kennels. The service honored Freddy's, a military working dog, service to the Air Force after he recently died of unknown causes. Throughout his time at Andersen, Freddy spent an unprecedented 723 hours conducting foot patrols in the jungles here and is credited with scouting and locating three unauthorized armed personnel. He participated in 16 wing-level exercises, performed multiple demonstrations and he and Sergeant Cheeseboro were the first dog team utilized by the 36th SFS to implement integrated-base defense. A permanent memorial will be built near the kennels to honor Freddy and future military working dogs. (U.S. Air Force/Staff Sgt. Chris Powell)
