In 2015, the Maintenance Squadron began restoring the aircraft and repainted it to appear as the F-4E that was assigned to the 36th Tactical Wing, Bitburg AB West Germany from 1973 to 1975. Senior Leaders from Andersen Air Force Base express condolences at Lt Col. (Ret.) Chuck McManus’ funeral at the Guam Veterans Cemetery April 26, 2017, in Piti, Guam. McManus was directly involved with Linebacker II and he was the deputy director of plans at Andersen AFB. Linebacker II was an intensive bombing campaign in December 1972 ordered by President Richard Nixon to persuade the North Vietnamese to return to the Paris peace talks.
